Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how Memody ("the App", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Memody mobile application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.
Data We Collect
Data stored locally on your device
The App itself does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to our servers. All melodies, recordings, voice calibration profiles, and settings you create within the App are stored locally on your device only and are never uploaded to any external server or cloud service. This includes:
- Melodies and MIDI files you have recorded
- Voice calibration profiles (frequency range, pitch offset, and vibrato characteristics derived from your voice during calibration)
- App settings and preferences (BPM, key, scale, and other configuration)
- Melody database (metadata about your saved melodies)
Device information
The App collects your device model name (e.g., "Pixel 7", "Galaxy S23") solely for display purposes within the optional DAW Sync feature. This information is used to identify your device on the local network and is never transmitted to external servers.
Local network information (DAW Sync feature)
When you explicitly enable the DAW Sync feature (available in Developer Mode), the App:
- Retrieves your device's local/private IP address to enable communication with your computer on the same Wi-Fi network
- Broadcasts your device model name and local IP address via mDNS (Bonjour/Zeroconf) on your local network so the companion VST plugin can discover your device
- Opens a local TCP connection to transfer MIDI data to your DAW
This network activity occurs only on your local network, only when you manually start the DAW Sync server, and no data is sent to the internet.
Data collected by third-party services
The App integrates third-party services that may collect data as described below.
Third-Party Services
Google AdMob (Advertising)
The App uses Google AdMob to display banner advertisements. AdMob may collect and process certain information to provide advertisements. This data is collected and processed by Google, not by us.
Information that AdMob may collect includes:
- Device identifiers (such as the Android Advertising ID)
- IP address
- General location information (country or region, derived from IP address)
- App usage and ad interaction data (such as ad impressions and clicks)
- Device information (such as device model, operating system version, and screen size)
AdMob may use this information to serve personalized or non-personalized advertisements, depending on your consent status and regional requirements. When you first open the App, you may be presented with a consent form asking whether you allow personalized advertising.

Google Privacy Sandbox APIs
The Google Mobile Ads SDK integrated in the App may participate in Google's Privacy Sandbox initiative, which includes:
- Topics API: Used by the ad SDK to determine interest-based advertising categories based on app usage, as a privacy-preserving alternative to cross-app tracking. Topics are derived on-device and shared with advertisers without revealing your browsing or app history.
- Attribution Reporting API: Used by the ad SDK to measure ad effectiveness (e.g., whether an ad view led to an app install) without revealing individual user data to advertisers.
These APIs are managed entirely by the Google Mobile Ads SDK. You can control Privacy Sandbox settings on your Android device under Settings > Privacy > Ads > Ad privacy.
Google Analytics (Website only)
Our website (memody-app.com) uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with the site. Google Analytics may collect information such as your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and time spent on pages. This data is collected on our website only, not within the mobile App.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The App itself does not use cookies. However, Google AdMob may use advertising identifiers (such as the Android Advertising ID) and similar technologies to serve and measure advertisements.
Our website uses cookies set by Google Analytics to analyze site traffic. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
Legal Basis for Data Processing (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we rely on the following legal bases for processing your data through third-party services:
- Consent: For personalized advertising through AdMob. When consent is required, you will be presented with a consent form before any personalized ads are shown. You may withdraw your consent at any time through your device settings.
- Legitimate interest: For non-personalized advertising, which helps us provide the App free of charge, and for website analytics that help us improve our services.
Your Rights
For all users
You have the right to:
- Opt out of personalized advertising: You can disable personalized ads on Android by going to Settings > Google > Ads > "Delete advertising ID" or "Opt out of Ads Personalization".

- Reset your advertising identifier: You can reset your Android Advertising ID at any time through your device settings.
- Control Privacy Sandbox: You can manage Topics API and Attribution Reporting settings on your device under Settings > Privacy > Ads > Ad privacy.

Data Security
All data within the App is stored locally on your device using standard platform storage mechanisms. We do not transmit, process, or store your app data on any external servers.
Data collected by third-party services (Google AdMob, Google Analytics) is protected by Google's security measures. For details, please refer to Google's Privacy Policy.
International Data Transfers
Data collected by Google AdMob and Google Analytics may be transferred to and processed in countries outside of your country of residence, including the United States. Google maintains appropriate safeguards for international data transfers, including Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.
Microphone Access
The App requests access to your device's microphone solely to allow you to record your voice for melody capture. All audio recordings are:
- Processed entirely on your device
- Stored only on your device
- Never transmitted, uploaded, or shared externally
You can revoke microphone access at any time through your device's permission settings.
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
